The alleged scandal of the son-in-law of the Spanish monarch, Ñaki Urdangarin, has put on the table its “businesses”, but also the darkness of the public money that each year receives the Royal House of the General State Budgets: more than 8 million euros a year. To this amount must be added those earmarked annually for the real family in compensation for various concepts and which are not officially known because of this darkness in force. Thus, the actual amount earmarked for the real family is much higher than that officially shown in the General Budgets under the paragraph “Casa Real”. How much does the Spanish Monarchy occupy in total the public treasury? How is that money shared among the members of the real family? Is it true that the lists of “Spaniards” who have bank accounts in Liechtenstein and other tax havens include members of the Royal House of Spain?
Urdangarin is accused of diverting public money to its companies and tax havens. Between 2004 and 2007, the Noos Institute, presided over by Urdangarin, had received EUR 5.3 million from the hands of several entities and had diverted EUR 3.2 million to private companies to the king’s ymes. Some of that money would be transported to tax havens. Urdangarin’s partner, Diego Torres, argued “State reasons” when public funds were diverted to tax havens so as not to give details to the police. Taxpayers – Basque money also pays the expenses of the anachronistic “Crown” – have the right to know what has been done with our taxes and no “state motive” should prevent it. That “reason of state” would cover the alleged crimes. Not only those of Urdangarin, but also those of the royal family.
