What ETA has done, for a few of its members and fans, for everyone else, is clear. It will last a little less or more, perhaps a separation will occur in itself, but this has no doubt: the time of ETA is over. Fortunately for you.
The leaders of the ruling left also know this, even though they have had to repeat several courses to overcome this subject. That is why now, almost suddenly, in a submissive way that even brings shame, they are ready to say amen to all the tests that the State puts. The patriots who have done much less than that for years (let alone non-patriots) have had to receive all kinds of insults and threats from their side.
It’s not time to take stock. We don’t have much of the data we need yet. But to realize that they have been gallant cobs, no more is needed. They want to explain the terrible defeat to us as a victory, and even if they don’t use all the propaganda in the world to sell it, it is clear that the political leadership of the official nationalist left has been very bad for the last long years. It wasn’t that long, it wasn’t that hard to get here. In fact, without so much calamity we could have gotten better elsewhere.

patriots who emerged as losers from Franco's war, but not patriotism. This time, it has been damaged to the pulp. The behavior of ETA and the official nationalist left has been harmful to everyone. It'll be hard for us to raise our heads again. The result is, to say the least, the great ripples between patriots, the warmest hostile environment on the international scene and very little interest among young people in Basque politics. It is not simply the responsibility of the nationalist left, but primarily. Among other things, because it has disgusted and annoyed most people.
Looking to the future, there should be no apparent remorse, but a more rigorous analysis of the behavior they have and have should be required so that it does not remain harmful.

of the main characteristics of ETA has been the need to say amen to everything proclaimed by it if no one wanted to become an enemy. It's no surprise that there's been so many seminarians inside. His discourse was a cheap adaptation of the old theology for the political struggle. Without hesitation, all that was left out of full conformity was worthy of heresy and being thrown down the abyss.
The official nationalist left has also preferred this same culture. Without shooting, but in many other ways, those who have not been amenable have noticed how their arrows were: in the streets and bars, especially when walking through their streets, in telephone calls, in many forms of exclusion...
I'm afraid that even if they admit the inconvenience of the shots, it will cost them more to take possession of the other. At least in the areas I know, it seems clear that the nationalist ruling left is preparing for the new times to regroup power, but with its head around its former neck. Too many political commissioners on the margins. Behaviors as well.
The patriot of the left must work for a strong, supportive and independent Basque Country and for this it should aim to make its people like that too. Independence is not just political or administrative.
Some say that being independent is paid for by the skin. Being dependent costs a lot more. But power always needs fans. In the Amen.
