Malores Etxeberria gipuzkoaeuskara.net talks about the book Dolor de Llengua by Enric Larreula. The book refers to the varied types of pain experienced by minority language speakers: "Larreula says it is a subject that has been studied very little, but that has important consequences for people who are suffering. And, not to mention, in society, because it makes coexistence difficult. He says that people who are concerned about the future of language disguise, do not talk about the subject and/or when they talk, lie, especially in the presence of native speakers. The lie, because the others are more, because they do not trust them in this matter, because they are internal emotions, because they do not want to hurt the neighbor... Larreula adds that this silence is very harmful and that the situation of apparent bilingualism leads to the social disappearance of minority language. If language is going to be socially useful – it takes being socially useful as the ‘salvation’ of language – it says you have to talk about it a lot, a lot, honestly and everyone, speakers of both.”
