Carlos Rilova Jericó has written the biography of Fermin Lasala y Collado. This work, which has been published by Kutxa, is the final result of Rilova’s doctoral thesis. Lasala was the Duke of Mandas and had only one life, he could be said to have had four or five: he had been involved in eleven businesses, even fattening the molsa perfectly; but he also had a special hobby with history books, he had a career in the military as well as in politics. It is said in this biography that at the end of the 19th century in Paris and London the Duke of Mandas was who: he made and dissolved empires when and in the middle of Belle Époque, when Europe was heading towards colonialism.
