About ten years ago, HAEE opted for clear Basque. As a result, the Basque texts currently published by the administrations are more understandable than the ones of that time. But not much more understandable, according to Edorta Spain. The fault can sometimes be the lack of skill of the translator; in many others, the motive must be sought in the morbidity of the original in Spanish, which passes into Basque. If the phrase with only three commas in eight lines is incomprehensible in Spanish, it will be more incomprehensible in Basque with yews. Add half a dozen technical words, and there's the antilingua.

More and more translators are thinking about these criteria and all agree that progress has been made, but according to Spain there is still much to be done. “When HAEE opened this path ten 8-10 years ago, training courses were held in different administrations, the need for clean Basque was on everyone’s lips... But it seems to me that this great initial effort is a little slowed down. It’s one thing to get a set of criteria in a book and another to see how this has been socialized, whether it has really reached both translators and other workers well.”
