“We gathered together a number of people interested in agriculture, education and social affairs, and over time this project was taking shape,” explains Pedro Ferrero Diez, head of Kiribilore.
“When we talk about permaculture, we talk more about sustainable designs and habitats than about a philosophy of life. To help people create more sustainable projects and lives,” says Ferrero. A school, an accommodation, a recreation area, a vegetable garden… in all these spaces you can apply designs based on permaculture according to the friends of Kiribilore, and they are helping in it.
But what are the fundamentals of permaculture to create these projects? Kiribilo’s ethical principles focus on caring for land and people and on the fair sharing of resources, time and money. The basis of attitude refers to the view of the person who designs a project: “The way of looking is very important, to understand that an element of a project can perform several functions in this system.” Finally, the design bases take into account the positions of the project elements, such as energy saving.
From Kiribilore, various activities are organized to learn about permaculture and implement it. During the month of September, for example, two workshops will be held on the estate that the association set up following the principles of permaculture. On 26 September, and on 3, 10 and 17 October, a workshop was organized on the recovery of gardens for adults: analysis and chromatography of the earth, microorganisms and plants, preparation of bio-fertilizers and design of restoration of the garden.
In the session with the children, workshop participants will have the opportunity to approach permaculture. On 18 and 25 September, and on 2 and 9 October, a new edition of the initiative will be held for children aged 5 to 12, focusing on land and people care.
