The right of the Cizur Cendea censures a giant representing railway workers shot in 1936
  • The City Council of the Cendea de Cizur (Navarra) is governed by an application from UPN. In 1936 he vetoed the presence of a giant of the Comparsa Menor representing the railroad workers shot in Pamplona.

As a result of this veto, Tartalo Konpartsa and the City Hall have not signed a collaboration agreement, since the City Council has refused to accept these impositions, as NAIZ has published. At the last plenary session, one of the councillors of the candidacy of the Right Making Cendea approved censorship. The controversy arises when the time comes to reach an agreement by 2024 between the City Hall and Comparsa Tartalo.

Since it was not initially constituted as an association in the Government of Navarra, the City Hall denied the use of the premises of the sports club of Astrain to the fifteen children registered for testing. Finally, the Council of Undiano gave a place for the beginning of the activity. After the formalities for the official establishment of the Association began in early January 2023, Tartalo Konpartsa returned to the City Hall to sign an agreement. It provided “a performance at parties in each of the towns of the Cendea”, in exchange for financing to start building giants. The amount set was EUR 3,000.

To the giants must be added a donation from the Association of Fosos de la Sierra del Cil, a giant representing the workers who worked in the Rochapea station of Pamplona and fused the rebels in 1936. His remains were found in a Paternain grave in 2022.

At the time of the final signing of the partnership agreement, the City Council attached to the document submitted the previous year several annexes:

In Section 5 of the Convention, under the heading “Obligations of the beneficiary”, a number of paragraphs are added. It determines that comparison will have a playful goal and has to represent all neighbors, asking for "political and ideological neutrality."

“The giants will preferably represent the traditions and trades of the Cizur Cendea, such as rural trades, bricklayers, pilgrims, knights of the Order of Malta… Therefore, to ensure the objective, the description of the giants (name and representation) must be presented and approved by the technicians and the presidency of the Department of Culture”, establishes the convention.

Faced with these new demands, the comparison has decided not to sign the agreement, although it means that it will be left without funding.
