Zirt zart, Euskaldun Children's School!
  • We live in Ansoin. We want to educate our sons and daughters in Euskera, but the City Hall does not offer Euskaldunes models. We have to take children to Basque children's schools in Pamplona.

Given this situation, a few months ago we began to demand the Basque children's school in the town. We had several meetings with the City Hall and we were aware that the issue had come to the plenary in January, but so far. The Mayor in the Assembly stated that there were not sufficient conditions and guarantees to implement the Basque branch in the Children's School and decided not to address the point. Apparently, in his words: they have difficulty certifying the Basque level that the school educators should have.

He said nothing.

  1. In the budgets the City does not dedicate a euro to the promotion of the Basque children's school.
  2. That the City Hall does not comply with the municipal regulations: at least six of the nine educators of the children's school should know the Basque.
  3. Considering that the majority of the workers of the Children's School are temporary, the City Council does not intend to convene a call for employment for the recruitment of permanent Euskaldun staff.
"If we look at what the mayor just said, it is clear that the reason why no Basque branch was opened in children's school is political."

Therefore, if we look at what the mayor said, it is clear that the reason why the Basque branches are not distributed at the children’s school is political. The City Hall is not willing to take effective action on the road to the Basque children's school. In recent months, moreover, he asked whether he will make any progress through the instances, he has taught us that he also knows how to do the ostrich well.

We feel underestimated, marginalized, but we know that we are not going to give up. Until the linguistic rights of sons and daughters are guaranteed, we will continue to work intensively.

Last year, by bringing children to the children’s schools in Pamplona, we managed to get the City Council of Pamplona to take on the additional fee that the City Hall imposed on us “foreigners”. This time we will get the children’s school to be Basque in the town!

“What is the right for, if there is no way...”
