Why Kresala in the Cineclub?

I'm responsible for computer science at the funeral home Funeraria Vascongada. In 2016, I moved to Donostia and began to immerse myself in the cultural movement. In 2018, I saw an ad from Kresala, and I went to them.

What do you have in your hands?

At Zineklub we are implementing the Basque network and we want to give visibility to this movement. To this end, we have launched the K Sariak project. The cineclub ButaK 21 of Zumarraga and Urretxu are also involved.

What is K Sariak?

A jury composed of members of the cineclubs awards a prize at various film festivals in Gipuzkoa. Once all the festivals are finished, the cineclubs will deliver the award-winning works. Thus, in Zumarraga you will see in Animadeba, the film festival in sign language, the works awarded in Donosskino, Kinetics and Amara.

In addition, you are participating in the production of the documentary on the 50th anniversary of the Kresala Film Festival.

In 2022, Kresala will be 50 years old and we want to pay tribute to those who started Kresala in 1972 and who have been watching movies for all these years.

In fact, the cineclub Kresala has done a great job over these 50 years.

We think it is important for society to recognize the movement of the cineclubs because we believe they are marginalized. People don't know how much cigarettes have benefited society. At the time of Franco, there was a respiratory space. In cineclub sessions, people could speak freely. In addition, if there were no cineclubs, many movies could not be seen on the big screen. We want to make a documentary to recognize all this and to pay tribute to the world of film. The basis of the documentary will be interviews and images of the films that have been screened over these 50 years. She will be led by Leire Egaña and others of the team are taking care of making money.

You have received the support of the Member.

We've been lucky. The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has selected our project for the Meta 2021 program. We are immersed in the crowdfunding campaign. For every euro that society brings, the Member will contribute another euro. Our intention is to launch the documentary on October 19, 2022 at the Main Theatre. Cineclub Kresala premiered his first film on 19 October 1972.

Are you always a cinéphilous?

From a young age. I grew up on Piedad Street and found myself in front of the Itzalon Lounge. The plan on weekends was to go to the movies with friends. As in some years we didn't have a film in Zumarraga and Urretxu, in adolescence we went to Legazpi. Gradually, I learned to enjoy movies from different backgrounds and backgrounds. Cineclubs offer the possibility to watch different films. Large screen, plus.

However, Netflix and other platforms have gained a lot of strength.

Platforms allow you to watch a lot of movies on smart TVs in our homes, but the big screen is a collective action. Sharing a movie with many other people doesn't have the same thing. Going to film is a collective act. That is where the strength of the cinemas resides.

What was the film that made you a child's mark?

Watch who speaks I saw the film twice in the old Zelai Arizti, the same weekend. The first time I saw it with my friends and the second time alone. I was just 7 years old and it produced something for me.
