The 2023 edition of Zinegoak will be held in June, “in a festive and vindictive atmosphere”, from 23 to 3 July. In the words of director Alaitz Arenzana: “Zinegoa has focused on changing identities, understanding that it is a place to change and discover gender.”

The 16 feature films have been divided into three categories: FIK (fiction), DOK (documentaries) and KRAK (new narratives). This edition will discuss topics such as sexual awakening, self-knowledge, memory archive and return to the place of origin.

The 25 short films are divided into four cycles: “Childhood and adolescence”, “Senior Women”, “Primary Ties” and “TBIQ+”. Outside the official competition will be held the Erroak cycle, in which short films produced in the Basque Country will be presented. Along with the films, they have organized theatres and performances.

The performances will start on 26 June, but from 23 to 25 the previous festival will be held: Projection of the works of the filmmaker Nina Menkes, performance of the audio-visual Queer (Un)Belongings and the play of the theater Ensure garaia, of Dantzerti and Musikene. Follow-up activities were subsequently organised in the last week of June: Identitartea and Esaiozu X, presentation of the documentary directed by My Way Out Izaskun Arandia and a retrospective look of Angels Cruz.

The festival will end on July 3 in Bilborock, where the winners of this edition will be announced. More information on your website.
