ELA, LAB, ESK and Steilas will mobilize in the M3 of Vitoria-Gasteiz under the motto "because they took care of us, because they will take care of us"
  • The mobilisations to recall the events of 3 March in Vitoria-Gasteiz will have the following motto: "Because they took care of us, we will take care of them." "This year, in addition to reminding all the protagonists of March 3, 1976, we want to reclaim the struggle for a public system of custody and care," the organizers explained. They will denounce that care is fundamental to the maintenance of life and that heteropatriarchal capitalism has relegated them to precariousness and the private sphere, as demonstrated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is a question of putting at the centre the need to develop more and better public services, both health, surveillance and education, and to improve the working conditions of all of them. As a result of these improvements, service workers, mostly women and, on many occasions, migrant women, have been fighting since the beginning of the pandemic. "The pandemic has highlighted the neglect and lack of responsibility of the neoliberal governments we have suffered in recent decades," they have denounced.

The tribute of the March 3 Victims Association will be held at 18:00 in the March 3 Square and the demonstration will start at 18:30.

March 3 marks the 45th anniversary of the assassination of Pedro María Martínez Ocio, Francisco Aznar, Romualdo Barroso, José Castillo and Welcome Pereda by the Spanish National Police in Madrid. "45 years later, memory is still alive in Vitoria, passing from generation to generation the values of social justice, antifascism and class struggle that the Francoists wanted to eliminate from the collective imaginary".

The unions ELA, LAB, ESK and Steilas have shown their outrage at the process of converting San Francisco into Memorial Church. "It is a unilateral process in which the Basque trade union majority has not participated. We believe that this is an act of political propaganda, since it is the same administrations that have participated in this process that condemn the rights of workers in the day to day".
