Frederic Haranburu Xistor was released from prison on 24 November 2020 under strict controls and has been held at home so far, hence the photograph illustrating the news. The Etxerat Association reports the withdrawal of telematics control of probation when 31 and a half years have elapsed since his arrest

Haranburu was arrested in 1990 and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1997. Jakes Esnal and Ion and Unai Parot were arrested the same year. The other three remain prisoners, denying them the possibility of parole after 32 years in prison. Bake Bidea has taken initiatives to demand his freedom.
