The Spanish Tax Agency found in an investigation of personal property started in 2015 the first signs of the possible commission of an injury crime of the player. Between 2010 and 2012, when he played at Real Madrid football and had a salary of six million euros, the agency concluded that there were unrecognised revenues, all related to image rights, and asked the prosecutor’s office to investigate them. The Spanish Treasury attributes to Alonso an alleged tax fraud of EUR 2 million in 2010, 2011 and 2012 to a company that managed image rights through a company located in the Madeira Islands (the birthplace of the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo). The Prosecutor ' s Office has requested a prison sentence of up to five years for each of the accused.

This same week the ruling against Cristiano Ronaldo, former colleague of Alonso, is celebrated, but his case has already been seen. After a negotiation, he has admitted the crimes against him and, in compensation, he will pay 18 million to the Spanish Treasury. In this way, he has managed to dodge the prison and prevent the arrest.

Alonso has assured that he "always" has complied with all his tax obligations and that that is why he has refused to negotiate with pp.
