- Ana Torent, the protagonist of Erice's first solo film, gives her the prize. It will take place on September 29 at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre. The last film by the filmmaker Close Eyes is then released.
This year is 50 years since The Spirit of the Hive won the Golden Shell for his first solo film by Eric. In addition, 31 years after his last feature film, the director presents a new film: Begi itxi. Taking advantage of the occasion, the filmmaker will receive the Donostia prize at the San Sebastian Festival.
Erice has a narrow lout with the Festival: her first film, Los Defos (1969), was selected for the Official Section and won the Silver Shell. Four years later he got the Golden Shell. He has also participated in other festivals such as the Festival de Cannes, where he presented two films, El Sur and The Sun of the Quince. The latter received the Special Jury Prize and the Fipresci Prize.
Also presented in Close Eyes Cannes, but out of competition. It tells the story of an unfinished film and the disappearance of an actress. It is being broadcast in the cinemas of Iparralde and will arrive in Hego Euskal Herria on the day of the awards ceremony.
