The head of the Spanish Executive, Pedro Sánchez, has announced that since July borders will be opened with strong security measures. In this way, the border that divides Euskal Herria into two will be opened again. Tourists say there will be no risk of coronavirus being introduced or picked up.
The borders that European States closed to deal with the coronavirus epidemic are gradually reopening. For example, on 14 March, the Spanish Government closed its borders with the EU. Even if the limits are serrated, they have been open from the outset to commercial transport. Now, the need for tourism is the clear driving force behind the decision.
At the moment there is no mention of the extension of the border between the Schengen area and other peoples.
