On Monday the remains of 51 people were found at the Amorebieta-Etxano Cemetery. The remains can be, according to the indications, of the warriors and militiamen who during the 1936 war were taken directly from the warlike fronts of the Amorebieta-Etxano area or from the local Blood Hospital. They are discovered in an area determined by the work being done in the cemetery. In it were buried people who died during the war, according to historical records.

The Institute of Memory, Coexistence and Human Rights Gogoan summons the families of the disappeared in the area during the 1936 war gogora@euskadi.eus by e-mail or by calling 944032845. This contact is essential to initiate the process of identification of the remains.

The Society of Sciences Aranzadi and Amorebieta-Etxano City Hall collaborate on the Search for Missing Persons of the Civil War program. Debris identification shall be carried out in the Biomics laboratory of the UPV/EHU. They will apply forensic and scientific techniques to accurately identify those who died in that historical era.
