In recent days, the local neighbours have made protests against the works being carried out at the Usansolo station to show their disagreement with the L5 line proposal. In 2022, Usansolo's plan to have a station in the center of the town was suspended in the presentation of the Basque Government, as collected by the Chain Ser. In this project, part of the route will be underground, other stations will be added, but the current Euskotren station in Usansolo will disappear, and there will be no alternative stations in the center of the town. The alternative offered to Usansolo's neighbours has been the Galdakao-Usansolo hospital station, and a bus service to connect the neighborhoods of Usansolo with this station.
Citizens have created the Geltokia platform in the city centre, and ARGIA has spoken to Jon Atxutegi, the platform’s representative. With the proposed modification, Atxutegi explained that if the current station of Usansolo, with a tour “of about 17 minutes” to Bilbao, it will mean taking the same journey “in more than 30 minutes”, and with the station of the center they request, that the number of beneficiaries will be approximately twice that of the population, as Naiz collected. The representative of the platform has denounced that this service cannot be lost and that having the station in the center is "the only solution" not to lose the service.
EH Bildu, Podemos and pp for, and PNV and PSOE against
In June, the citizen’s platform went to the Bizkaia General Boards to claim the construction of a Euskotren Line L5 station in downtown Usansolo. In it, the platform’s representative, Jon Atxutegi and Josu Grandival, asked the junters to “quickly” accept “a non-standard proposition in the Foral Chamber” and urged the Lakua Government to activate a “moratorium” to paralyze the current project that puts the station close to the hospital.
EH Bildu, Podemos and pp were in favour of the central station, but the PNV and PSOE supported the Galdakao-Usansolo hospital station and bus service, Atxutegi said. EH Bildu and Podemos recorded in June a non-standard proposition in the General Boards representing the platform, but the PNV and the PSOE did not approve it and on Monday, 15 July, both parties filed an allegation against the record, according to the representative. The platform hopes that at the end of September or the beginning of October it will be renegotiated at the next session of the General Meetings with the parties, what they have submitted and the allegations of the PNV and the PSOE “if they can be reconciled as far as possible” and thus “for that request to advance”.
