The City of Azpeitia has asked the public not to launch rockets or pyrotechnic devices during the New Year’s Eve festivities, as rockets are usually common to celebrate New Year’s Day.

The City Hall has pointed out that many of the town's houses are wooden and that sparks can create a "serious situation" in the area. In addition, the body has explained that rockets "create fear and discomfort" for animals and the general population, and for animals. In this sense, the City Hall has considered that it is "the responsibility of every citizen" not to launch rockets and has asked the neighbors "not to throw them". However, the Consistory has pointed out that if anyone wants to launch pyrotechnic devices he needs the authorization of the Ertzaintza to do so.
