The remodeling works of the patio of the Herri Eskola de Orduña have recently begun. The concrete ground will be removed to set up a “edible forest” with many fruit trees and vegetables. In addition, the project contemplates the installation of numerous cabins where you can play and take the classes in the open air.

This is the main function of space: to put students in interaction with nature and the municipality.

Four or five years of process

The group of Catalan architects El Globus Vermeli began last year the denaturalization process of the school, within the framework of the Patios X Climate project. Seven parks in the Spanish state were incorporated into the project, but the one in Orduña was the only one in the CAV.

Despite the fact that the work has begun at the moment, a great deal of work has been done in recent months. Last year several meetings were held with the City Hall and the educational community of the center to explain the project and make a first contact. In May, however, days were organized to reflect on the project. With the input received at these meetings, the technical project that is now being implemented was completed.

However, it is expected that the process will last for four to five years, as it will not be limited to an empty work. The school's educational plan will also be modified to integrate the use of the bernaturalized space in the day-to-day life of the educational centre.
