The neighbourhood associations of Erandio and Getxo have denounced that the Bilbao Water Consortium spills "fecal water and sewage" from its facilities to the valley, along with environmental groups Eguzki and Ekologistak Martxan.

The institutions have explained that in recent years they have become "common discharges" which, despite "the tremendous effects on public health and the environment", have complained. Each month, during the bathing season, the Galindo debugger has poured "thousands of cubic meters of wastewater" into the Bilbao estuary.

They have also reported weekly discharges from the pumping station that the Water Consortium has in the village of Lamiako. They asked the administrations to "stop doing these practices" and to explain what happened.
