The Chinese authorities have added to a new figure the number of deaths due to not being able to reach hospitals and the number of deaths in private clinics and centres that did not report in time. That is why China, which in recent days has accumulated very rare deaths in global statistics, has suddenly risen its death toll from 3,342 to 4,632. In the world’s victim ranking, China is now ranked 8th, ahead of the United States, Italy, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Iran and Belgium. In the world, until early April 17, the coronavirus has killed 146,872 people.

Many in China questioned the official death toll in Wuhan. During the early days of the plague, the local authorities wanted to keep the matter hidden, then severely silenced the journalists who were dementing official statistics and also some well-known doctors. That is what many citizens suggested, who also had their personal experiences.

The update of the Wuhan figures coincides with the day when it is known that the Chinese economy has not grown in the first three months of 2020, but has grown by 6.8%. China has not known this distress since the beginning of this century.
