The Donostian photographer Aitor Garmendia has been awarded the third prize in the category of Environment among the 45 nominees of the event that annually convenes the organization World Press Photo. This year the 64th edition of the event took place, in which a total of 4,135 people participated.

The work was completed by Garmendia between 2019 and 2020 with a group of animal rights researchers – people who have wanted to preserve anonymity because of the risk of persecution – who entered the chamber in more than thirty pig farms in Aragon, Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León. Objective: to document the abuses that occur in the context of the industrial exploitation of animals, in order to make this reality known.

The work saw the light for the first time through ARGIA.Aqui is available.
