  • The company argues that its activity is geared towards serving transport and therefore maintains production. In a statement issued by the ELA trade union, ELA stated that "despite the security measures implemented in the company Sigma Brakes, it is not possible to protect the health of all". Many workers work on their feet. For these same reasons, a complaint was lodged with the Labor Inspectorate."

On 29 March, the new Royal Decree-Law 10/2020 was approved, ordering the suspension of all non-essential activities. Sigma Brakes argues that its activity is geared towards serving transport and therefore maintains its production, which has been endorsed by the Government Delegation. ELA does not understand that brake pills can be considered essential products: "Therefore, that their manufacturing justifies unnecessarily putting a group of about 300 people and their families at risk," he added.

Some companies already infected with coronavirus

According to ELA, "some workers in this company are already on leave, either because they are infected with COVID-19, or because they are quarantined in contact with contagion or symptoms." The union has warned that since it is a factory with about 300 workers, there may be a major source of contamination.
