At the meeting on Wednesday, all the groups unanimously decided to set up a tourist tax for 2020. Determining the application of this levy will in any case be in the hands of the respective municipalities.

Where will the money go?

Once the vote has taken place, the destination of the money raised from the tourist tax has not been defined.

Elkarrekin’s spokesman Podemos at the JJGG, Davis Oliden, said that “Gipuzkoa has to go ahead, firm on the road”, referring to the obstacles the Basque Government has put to this rate. EH Bildu has been satisfied with the result and has asked the PNV to "respect" the decision of the public institutions that affect them.
