Amazon strikes in Trapagaran will leave 60,000 packages undistributed
  • The third day of strike took place on Thursday at the work centre of the multinational in Trapagaran, following the stoppages of 17 October and the all-day strike of 28 November. The strike promoter, LAB, has pointed out that over 300 vans from Amazon’s subcontractors have not left to perform the delivery tasks, as most warehouse workers have joined the call for strike.

According to data from the LAB trade union, on Thursday the company has accumulated 25,000 packages of delay and on Friday it is expected that 35,000 packages will not be distributed. Therefore, as a result of the two-day strike, 60,000 packages would remain undistributed. The strikers have taken a walk on Thursday in Bilbao, from the Elliptical Square to the Circular, and on Friday 23 December, the second day of this week’s strike, they have mobilized in front of the Trapagaran work centre from 8:00.

LAB believes that the day of the strike "has been a success" and has been set as an example by the six subcontractors of Amazon (Vayven Delivery, S.L., E-Box Last Mille, S.L. Flash Delivery, S.L., Besaide Logistics, S.L. City Logistic, S.L. and Gruso Logistics and Distribution, S.L.) They've ordered distributors to stay home.

On Monday, December 19, Amazon met with the Works Council, but the union complains that "it did not offer anything relevant, declared that a center agreement was not viable" and rose from the table with "broken negotiation". The company is willing to improve weekend breaks, but for LAB this is not enough. If Amazon does not change attitude and bet on negotiation, LAB says that "the only option that will leave workers will be mobilization."
