The LAB trade union proposes an eco-socialist and feminist transition
  • The LAB trade union has presented the eco-socialist and feminist transition it wants to address following the pandemic: "We do not want to rebuild the system that is in place. We want to fundamentally change this system, we want to build a new model."

The general secretary of the PNV, Garbiñe Aranburu, has stated that "the systemic parties that want to continue to support this system, with the PNV at the head, and the employers insist on the need for economic and social reconstruction. They call us the collaboration, they give us a field of play for that collaboration and we know that they have bought an arbitrator; therefore, we workers cannot win matches under these conditions. And we say it very clearly: do not count on us to work on discussion frameworks that seek to maintain the current system".

Five axes to put "life in the center"

LAB sets out the key to change as follows: workers must be protected and not capital. "The transition to a new model that puts life at the centre, towards an eco-socialist and feminist transition must be addressed," he added. The following five axes are proposed:

1. Recognising all jobs and ensuring employment, pensions and decent living.

2nd Strengthening public services. In this sense, they have pointed out that "it is time to build a public surveillance and social protection system".

3. Sustainable development model.

4. A new tax policy that ensures a fairer distribution of wealth.

5. Sovereignty. "This pandemic has taught us how important it is to have a state. That is why we continue to claim full sovereignty and a State of our own."
