Torra suspends with ERC and will convene elections after budget approval
  • "There is no way to extend the legislature," he said in announcing the call for elections by Generalitat President Joaqim Torra. It has also recognized to the public that it has lost confidence on the part of ERC. Torra was caught on the road, after the Bureau of Parlament, presided over by Republican Roger Torrent, assumed on Monday the loss of the Deputy Act by the president of the Generalitat, as promised by the Electoral Board. That is why Torra has announced that the elections in Catalonia will probably be held at the end of March or the beginning of April following the approval of the budgets.

"Last Monday, a body without competence [the Electoral Board] left me without a Deputy's act," the lehendakari regretted. Although he acknowledged that the legislature was exhausted, he underlined the importance of approving the budgets: "It is time to act with the utmost responsibility and to put Catalonia above any other party interest," he added. It requires the approval of budgets that have to solve many social needs". The Vice President of the Govern ment, Pere Aragonès, will present these budgets today to the other Catalan consellers to bring them to Parliament for final approval.

Torra has been shown severely against CKD: "On Monday, the consensus of independence was not respected. We have already found ourselves in the past with the will to prevent repression. But I am convinced that repression is being faced without being exhausted. The Government cannot function unless there is unity, shared strategy and loyalty among its members. The institution holding the presidency is left unprotected, replacing Lehendakari as a Member. And that puts the Govern of Catalonia at risk."
