- The Barrutik Kanpora show in Bilbao, at the Campos Theatre, was a unique opportunity to see the illusion and creative capacity of young people. Within the Harrapazank program, organized annually by the City Hall and Euskaltzaleen Topagunea, this year a competition similar to the talent shows that are now fashionable to attract young people between 12 and 18 years of age to leisure in Basque. The best of this year’s edition met on the stage of Campos.
Over 300 people in public, parents, friends, classmates, etc. After the hard trials, a serious quote came for the youngest. A frenetic rhythm show in which dance, singing, music, bertsos, juggling and magic were mixed, and people thanked with applause for the efforts of boys and girls. They showed in that beautiful show that they have talent.
It was a show full of positive messages. Young people adapted their favorite dances and songs, breaking the prejudices that exist around current musical trends. For example, the famous song I don’t want any more, performed by Nagore Rondón and accompanied by the energy choreography of Group 21, Ez dot I’ve never done anything. Another of the highlights of the show Barrutik Out was the impressive dance of perfection. So young man was able to fill the stage alone.
The case of the Eztanda group is also noteworthy. This is a group of elderly people, who barely exceed what is necessary to participate in Harrapazank. But this year they have signed up for the first time and won. With the money from the prize, the model is preparing for the occasion. The afternoon of Campos was animated with his music and rhythms.
They accompanied and were referents of the participants, both in the essays and in the show, some more veteran artists. Iholdi Beristain, for example, has participated in ETB’s Go!azen programme, but took a place to go up the stage with the young people of Bilbao. On the other hand, Vera Alonso was part of Harrapazank when she was a teenager, then she was also a judge and, on this occasion, she got back to the stage to demonstrate her dotes for the song. Alonso, friend and comrade, dedicated the song to the young transsexual of Ondarroa Ekai, who committed suicide in 2018. In a show full of beautiful moments, it was the most exciting.
In 2020 Harrapazank reaches its 15th edition. Eliminatory, final, attempts to improve capacities will be resumed... Dozens of young billiards willing to show their talent. See if they re-organise the Barrutik Kanpora show, as this year has left a sweet taste.
