Prosecutor's Office accuses CoR prisoners of being part of a new "terrorist group"
  • The judge considers that there are "indications" that the defendant could be a member of an alleged organization called "Resposta Tactica equip" (ERT). The lawyers of the defendants have denounced the lack of protection of the defenses. On Thursday night, demonstrations were held in the Catalan countries to denounce the imprisonment of prisoners.

The seven members of the Catalan CoR who issued a statement last Thursday at the Spanish National Hearing are already in prison. The Public Prosecutor's Office charges them with a crime of "integration into a terrorist organization" to an extent of attempt. TV3 already reported on Thursday that the Prosecutor's Office had rejected the accusation of holding explosives, but it did not: He has also accused them of "conspiracy and possession of explosives to cause the destruction of the area".

Judge of the National Court Manuel García Castellón has ordered the entry into provisional prison without bail of the seven young people charged with the risk of being released. Garcia says there are “indications” that members of the CoR are members of the organization “Equip de Resposta Tactica” (ERT). The magistrate considers that ERT is "a hierarchical structure" that intended to "establish the Catalan Republic by any means, including violence, that can never be used". The Prosecutor's Office considers that the ERT is "terrorist" and that its objective is "a return to constitutional order" and "a serious violation of social peace".

Helplessness

The Solidarity Alert lawyers have denounced the lack of information generated by a situation of helplessness in the defence of detainees. The resolution, which has only been rejected by means of a mechanism, prevents the defendants from knowing the evidence and arguments with which the crimes are attributed and which override the possibility of appeal. "We're unprotected. The Spanish state, instead of nine prisoners, now has 16", said Solidarity Alert spokesman Xavier Pellicer.

Citizens, “together”

On Thursday night, several demonstrations took place in the Catalan countries in protest against the violence of the Machista. The prisoners, who lived in Sabadell and nearby towns, met thousands of people in Sabadell to call for the release of prisoners.

Also on Thursday afternoon, relatives and friends of the prisoners appeared before the media at a press conference. They assured that they would not leave the prisoners "alone" and claimed the "strength" of citizenship: "The popular culture is the one that built on October 1, which keeps us united and in self-organization," he added.
