The Suicide Prevention Strategy has 57 main measures, the first plan developed in the CAV in this area. The objective is to create a comprehensive and effective system for prevention, intervention and post-suicide.

The plan has been presented by Health Consultant Nekane Murga, with the help of a multidisciplinary team. According to Murga, this is a two-way plan: early detection of risk and visibilization of suicide breaking taboos.

The plan was driven by the worrying suicide map in Euskal Herria. In Euskal Herria, more suicidal people have died than in traffic accidents. In 2018, a total of 334 people committed suicide in the Basque Country.
