The first death occurred on 21 January, when an 85-year-old woman died. The last victim has been neighboring Haro de Santutxu (Bilbao, Bizkaia), in which four other people have died, neighbours of number 4 of the Plaza de Haro. Once the outbreak was identified, the Department of Health conducted a screening on the portal and the analyses detected a total of 33 positive results.
The neighbors, satisfied with the management of Sagardui
The Health Advisor, Gotzone Sagardui, has talked about what happened in an interview held at Radio Vitoria this morning. He pointed out that the Health Department responded "quickly" and that it was the crawlers who identified that there were several cases in the same portal, so the observation was made. “The functioning of the tracking system has been re-demonstrated.” The Department is investigating the reasons for these positive developments.
In the morning, many media outlets have approached the Santutxu portal and several neighbours have made statements, as naiz-e has gathered. In general, they have expressed their indignation and fear at the situation in the country. They criticize that from the City Hall or from the Basque Government "no one has appeared" to give explanations or support to the citizens. Some of them have indicated that the main focus could be in the elevator (16-storey building). The neighbors themselves have paid a company to disinfect common spaces.
