Gregorio Eskudero and Itsaso Zaldua will be transferred from the Coupas de Salamanca to Villabona (Asturias). Four other prisoners will be transferred to prisons in the Basque Country: Asier Bengoa will be transferred to Zaballa from Daroca (Zaragoza) and Igor Martínez from Osaba Zuera (Zaragoza). Gari Arruarte from Soria to Pamplona and Ugaitz Pérez from Logroño to Basauri.
The consequences of COVID-19 are also suffering intensively in prisons and, according to the Etxerat family association, it is time to put an end to the incommunicado situation. In this context, Marixol Iparragirre has denounced the situation she has experienced since she was extradited to Spain in September 2019. “The judgment in which this situation is found is due to the continuous displacements it has to make in order to cope with the chain and, consequently, the quarantines it has to do. The family claims that the Eskoriatza prisoner has suffered over nine quarantines since last January and is hospitalized. Today you can only leave the cell once a day, so you must choose between a phone call or a shower.”
As ETXERAT points out, “it is urgent to eliminate situations such as that experienced by Marixol Iparragirre and, in general, the difficulties in retrieving communications”.
