The Congress of Writers of Sara premieres the monolith '1813-1814 Ahantzi Ezinak'
  • There is a new monument in Sara, next to the Gaztetxe, in Suharriaga, which is called “1813-1814 Not Forgotten”. In Alabaina, the Napoleonic troops suffered 200 years ago and the terrible suffering suffered by the citizens here has been forgotten. This work has been the result of a snowfall.

In 2013, the Lapurdi 1609 association had already published a book with the objective of remembering the facts, and looking “through folklore”. In addition, they had proposed to the people of Sara the possibility of lifting a memorial or a tombstone. With the assent, Inaki Iriarte, the young man of Sara, dedicated himself to the size. On the other hand, every two years, the Writers' Congress honours someone, this year they have decided to make four birds with two stones. Instead of paying homage to a person, it has been decided to inaugurate the memorial. Many people have concentrated there, through the neighborhoods and in some elected places.

In the words of Mixel Mendiburu de Lapurdi, in 1609, “the works we release today remind us of our recent history, suffered by misery, a terrible emigration, and for all of them that Eskual Herria still lives and wants to play with enthusiasm.”

The mayor of the town, Battit Laborde, said that “in the middle of the hour (in Sara it says “half an hour” from Noon) we have celebrated the act, as we know only half of the story. After all, these acts serve to better understand the history of our people’.

The author Inaki Iriarte has clearly pointed out what he wanted to do: the size is made of steel type “Korten”, in the form of a book, but comparable to a house: a wall is torn by the center, as if it were an explosion: this is the symbol of the violence that occurred. However, the other wall looks like an oak or son-in-law leaf, to show that people in the hand are in a bit and fast.”

Sung by Anje Duhalde “Ama Eskual Herria” from Xalbador, Xumai Murua and Allande Alfaro have created two Persians full of ingenuity. The last word of Amaia Aire was to give her a pearl of Amets Arzalluz. The act of farewell has been carried out with the dance.

Let us not forget that they have also made a four-language plate so that transits can read and learn what it was in 1813 around. It is located right in front of the Memorial Stone.
