In January 2017, it was discovered that Izar, the two-year-old daughter of prisoner Sara Majarenas, who was then held at Picassent Prison in Valencia, had been severely stabbed by her father, taking advantage of the care of the child she had on weekends while her mother was in prison. Since then there have been major mobilizations demanding the approaching and dismissal of both Sara and Izar, and the Basque Parliament has called for their mothers and daughters to be released.
The prisoner was given a second degree by the judges, but as the mother of the prisoner recently reported, until the last moment the Spanish judges have not shown much compassion for both. Today the House announced that Sarah had been released.
