Health workers against the Basque Country, health workers against patients
Adrian Zelaia 2024ko uztailaren 24a

The demands of Basque Country in Osakidetza are abusive. No doubt. We are putting and mobilizing health professionals in this line. Without being against the Basque Country, with little intention to learn and much less to use.

The new reference platform is “United by a Real Linguistics”. The precariousness and disadvantages of workers who do not know Basque come to save the sector when they are obvious. Is there anyone in the area who has family members, friends or anything with health problems and who has not had to suffer the structural mistakes of Osakidetza? We all know that it is the fault of linguistic profiles. That is why, on 20 July, concentration in Bilbao.

For coexistence. Spanish is required to learn medicine, to access health specializations (EIR, FIR, PIR, MIR...), to receive training and present to oppositions (not scored, but conditional). Level B2, equivalent to C1. The health system is currently a place for the transformation of Basque workers and patients, as we have frequently denounced from Aitor. Let the opposition express itself in Basque if you do not want to have a mistranslated exam and get a worse result. Some of the analyses are in the courts under the accusation of corruption (many bosses who do not know Euskera and cooked), but the blame, once again, lies with the Euskaldunes.

How to work in Euskera, if someone who does not know (or a Basque colleague who is against the “imposition” of Euskera) does not understand the terms derived from Latin and the obligation to write “X-rays” is imposed to save the lives of patients instead of “X-rays”.

Although scientific evidence indicates that the only guarantee of quality for users or patients from Euskaldunes is care in Euskera, the pulse in the street is based on forgetting the health criteria and defending their privileges.

In addition to being a serious insult to Basque health workers, it is a demonstration of strength against vasco-speaking patients. We are second-level citizens who cannot (and cannot) receive (and provide) service in our language

Because that's it: defense of privilege. Despite the fact that cuts and structural deficiencies have been reported for decades, the current precariousness is the fault of the Basques and Basques. Over and above the questionable efforts and privatizations, we have been raised with the denunciation of a health service in Basque that does not exist, the denunciation of a possible precarious ghost.

If, in order to provide a public service, it is a matter of putting one’s own interests before those of the public, in addition to the fact that there is a wide range of possibilities for employment outside this public service, the Administration should socialise the understanding of the public. They are using public services to marginalise a large part of the population and to harm their health, and they want to harm us even more.

Language rights are not confronted with labour rights. There are tax and reactionary workers who are confronted with the Basque people. Two official languages (for now), a single public service, with a high level of quality endorsed by scientific evidence. It is the workers who oppose these criteria, the majority of the trade unions, agents and parties in power, who turn us into second-division workers and citizens.

In addition to being a serious insult to Basque health workers, it is a demonstration of strength against vasco-speaking patients. We are second-level citizens who cannot (and cannot) receive (and provide) services in our language (supposedly in the official language). What is called ultraderecha is not hidden outside Euskal Herria, and it is aggressive with its racism, classism and impositions. In an already serious situation, there is always the possibility of taking steps backwards. If not organized, if not dealt with. It is time for a service to enable us Basques to have decent health care. Health workers against Basques, health workers for patients.
