No emergency measures!

In prisons dependent on the Basque Government, Basque political prisoners have lost a great deal in terms of communication with our family and friends. The number of monthly prefixes is lower and their duration is shorter. So, even if we get closer, we devote less time to the closest ones.

It is clear that for all prisoners it is important to maintain and enjoy the relationship with their environment, because it is a fundamental right. Even more so in the case of political prisoners, which is essential to keep our commitment to the country alive.

Our family and friends have never let us down, and in the face of the dispersal that has been in place for decades, travelling countless kilometres, paying very hard economically and physically. We must not forget that sixteen friends and relatives who have left their lives on these roads have always been by our side.

The objectives of the dispersion were not met, the link with the People has never been broken, solidarity and courage arrived every weekend to the places that were held by us, as is currently the case.

But today, being in the prisons of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, they have created a tool to break this link: the measure of exception.

Dozens of people have been banned from communicating with us. Once the judicial appeals were processed, we came to the following conclusion: The Basque Government prohibits access to prison through a blacklist

Dozens of people have been banned from communicating with us. Having suffered this unfair measure in recent months and, among other things, having prosecuted judicial appeals, we have come to the following conclusion: A black list drawn up by the Basque Government prohibits access to prison for a large number of people, whether to communicate with us or to participate in sporting or cultural events.

The emergency measure has been imposed on people accused of belonging to revolutionary sectors and who feel uncomfortable or are considered enemies of them. This is clearly seen, for example, in the responses to our resources from the National Hearing, that having a militant commitment means suffering apartheid.

Those of us who signed this document wish to convey to the People this dramatic situation, denouncing this measure of exception and saying aloud that what they did not achieve with the dispersion will not achieve it. The love and strength of the people will continue to be our means of life. Once again we will face these attacks together.

No repression!

No emergency measures!
