The director of the San Sebastian Film Festival, José Luis Rebordinos, has made the announcement at a press conference to present the list of projections in Basque in Tabakalera. All films from the Official Section of the Festival will be offered in Basque in Kursaal. Each film will be broadcast in its original version and can be seen in the three official languages, not only in Spanish and English, but also in Basque.
Euskera screens: "It's a big step forward."
In his relations with Zinemaldia, "the will to change things" and "the will to increase" the presence of the Basque "has been good", and the announcement of Rebordinos has been satisfied. However, they put a point: "The balance between official languages has not yet been achieved, and in the coming years the objective must be that all actions, beyond the Official Department, can be seen in Basque, as in Spanish".
In addition, Apantllas Euskaraz has challenged the institutions of the Basque Country and invited them to take steps to guarantee linguistic rights. "The San Sebastian Film Festival has shown that if there is a will to change things, and by allocating the necessary resources, it is possible to move forward."
