Since the declaration of a state of alarm in the Spanish State on 13 March last, 24 people have died in state prisons. According to official data, two of them have died from COVID-19. The main source of death in prisons is overdose and suicide. The reduction in in-person visits has only increased tension in prisons.

Already more than 500 prisoners are in isolation, without leaving the module, because they have symptoms of coronavirus.

Around twenty prisoners are actively joining the protest. Through the delays they are suffering in mail communication, it is difficult for them to know how many prisoners are doing exactly hunger strike.
