Users of these premises are Arkote Arraun Taldea, Ambar Elkartea, Plentzia Canoeing, Gaztetxe Danontzat and Plentzia Traineru Baltza Elkartea, as well as the bar there. All of them have been informed of the decision through a poster placed at the door of the street and have ensured that they will not be able to re-enter. The City Council has given them the deadline until January 15 to collect the goods they own.
In response, the associations have published a letter denouncing that they have taken the decision without prior notification and that they have forced to suspend their activities and leave the future of the five associations "in the air".
The City Council has not yet issued a communication on this matter and has not received a reply to Hiruka’s request for information.
Former Mayor of Plentzia, David Crestelo, has explained that the premises and adjacent parking must be demolished because the building "is about to collapse". This was the conclusion of the study that the City Council contracted in the last legislature for the viability of the building. Crestelo explained that the town council concluded in September that municipal premises were to be closed, but it did not give any alternative to local associations.
