The Plateruena Kafe Antzokia of Durango has been closed since December 31. After seventeen years of career, he had to close his doors. Plateruena has been one of the most well-known scenarios of Basque culture, and the closure of the room generated a special disappointment and disappointment among the cultural agents.

Because of this discontent, and with the objective of analyzing the possibilities of reactivation of Plateruena, a dynamic has been launched in Durango: "And after the dishes?" ". As explained by Ihintza Orbegozo, former head of culture of the Plateruena Kafe Antzokia, the dynamic has been created by people who work in different areas of culture and who are concerned about the situation. "We started meeting to make a diagnosis; what is needed in Durango, where the biggest vacuum of Plateruena will be left, and what the room can help," he explained.

In the process that has begun with the objective of making a diagnosis, the participants have agreed on one idea: Durango and the Duranguesado need a theater like Plateruena. "As far as theatre is concerned, the cultural space San Agustín is the space that occupies this espacio.Tambiin there is also a museum and a library, but otherwise there is no room for culture in Durango. Nor is there a house of culture. There was already a need, and now, once the Plateruena was closed, more because of the loss of a place by the associations and creators of the people," he said.

In the context of the dynamic, it is also intended to listen to the voices of other local agents for the analysis. Although the process is being positive, the organization has reported that "there is a long way ahead."

Three main axes

Plateruena's dynamic will revolve around culture, the Basque country and citizenship. As Orbegozo explains: "We are still collecting ideas and in a month something else can come, it is to be seen," said the President of the Basque Government.
