The strike will take place on 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 25 and 26 October, according to sources from the ELA plant in Bilbao. The Pelotaris have made five demands: The resumption of negotiations on the contracts of the pelotaris Víctor, Laso and Mariezkurrena, in good faith and without threats; the signing of an agreement regulating minimum working conditions; the suspension of the internal regime; and economic transparency with the pelotaris, according to the reporter of Berria Aitor Manterola and Paulo Ostolaza.
The Pelotaris have explained that they are prepared to negotiate with the company and that they will decide whether or not to disband the strike according to the will expressed by the company.
Two weeks ago, the conflict between the Pelotaris and the Baiko company, which is in a delicate situation, broke out. Eighteen pelotaris offered a press conference at the fronton Beotibar de Tolosa to denounce the situation in which they are: "The Pelotaris are experiencing widespread discouragement with the actions that the company has been adopting towards us in recent times. These behaviors, instead of correcting them, have multiplied in recent months."
Then came those denounced by the pelotari Unai Laso in Berria, "Baiko is a dictatorship", and in the face of the situation the sports director of the company Baiko, José Ramón Garai, at a press conference on Thursday, the journalists of Berria Julen Etxeberria and Jon Ordoñez who are monitoring the conflict have gathered in this chronicle: "We have had to adapt to the situation," said the president of the Generalitat. According to Garai, the latest incidents in the pelotaris contracts have been the result of the change in the situation that has led to the health crisis. There are also fewer festivals and fewer tickets that are sold, and Baiko has to manage that. He added that the basis of professional sport is the rotation of athletes, and he stressed that Bayo did not throw them out, but that they decided not to follow.
A meeting with the pelotaris group will be held on Monday, but athletes will announce mobilisations this afternoon at the headquarters of the ELA trade union in Bilbao.
