This Wednesday is two years since the pensioners’ movement began. On January 15, 2018, a WhatsApp call launched the fight that has been developed to this day and to which several pensioners have approached to claim dignified pensions in front of the City Hall of Bilbao. Since then, they have been mobilizing for two years every Monday and have long taken the form of movement.

This Monday there have also been mobilizations in different parts of the city and they have expressed their intention to continue the mobilizations, either through the concentrations of Monday or other actions. In this regard, they have recalled that they are going to take part in the general strike called for on 30 January.

With regard to its trajectory, the Movement of Pensioners in Bizkaia underlined the following: “They wanted to see us tired, frustrated and discouraged through pressures and lies, but they haven’t done it.” After two years of mobilizations and "103 Monday of mobilizations and other initiatives", they have stressed that they maintain their illusion and their forces.

Although the small achievements of these two years have meant little improvement in their pensions, they have expressed their intention to maintain their claims. They will also pass on their demands to the new Spanish Government that has just been set up. Although they have been optimistic that they have not formed a right-wing government with the extreme right, they have made it clear that, if they do not meet their demands, the new government will have to be in front of it.
