As reported by the Pro Amnesty and Anti-Repression Movement (AAEAM), Basque prisoner Patxi Ruiz has begun a hunger and thirst strike in Murcia prison to protest against the situation and threats he has experienced these days.
Prisoners have concentrated on denouncing the rights cuts that have taken place in prison due to the COVID-19 crisis, one of which involved prison officials and managers and security officials on 9 May, he said. They accused the Basque prisoner of being "the leader" of the mobilizations and assured him that he would "suffer the consequences" of the mobilizations.
"To defend against these threats, Patxi wounded his arm," says the AAEAM, which on 31 December used the same form of protest to denounce the attitude of the jailers, and after denying the tranquilizers in the hericage and giving inadequate treatment, on Monday he began a hunger and thirst strike.
"The situation is very serious, as the governing bodies facing a situation of hunger and strike begin to fail from the fourth or fifth day of strike. We demand that they complete the attacks on Patxi and meet the demands of the prisoners in module 8 of the prison in Murcia, he explained the movement.
