Death of singer Pablo Milanés
  • Cuban singer Pablo Milanés died at age 79. He has spent his last years in Madrid, but he has offered concerts there and here until the last moment.

The singer Pablo Milanés had to suspend for hospitalization the concerts he was going to offer on 14 November in Pamplona, 30 in Mexico and 5 December. Milanés has been living in Madrid since 2017 to receive treatment for a disease.

Along with Silvio Rodríguez and Noel Nicola, Milanés has been one of the most significant founders and indicators of the Nueva Troba de Cuba, and also in Euskal Herria, especially in the 1980s and 1990s. He has published over 40 records and has received numerous awards. Includes the Cuban National Music Prize and the Latin Grammy of Musical Excellence.

He has been an artist deeply committed to the Cuban revolution and critical of the "mistakes" committed. In recent decades it has been a critical voice to the Cuban revolution.
