Rapper Pablo Hasel, imprisoned for "insulting" the Spanish monarchy
  • The National High Court has given the rapper Pablo Hashim a period of ten days for him to appear in pre-trial detention on a voluntary basis. Those accused of the crimes of the uprising of terrorism and of the proliferation of insults against the monarchy.

Rapper Pablo Hasel has been given a period of ten days for rap singer Pablo Hasel to be presented in a prison that will remain in prison. The National High Court has ordered the entry into prison of the singer for a crime of exalting terrorism and insulting the king of Spain.

In March 2018, the National High Court sentenced Hasel to two years and one day in jail and a fine of 24,200 euros for alluding terrorism and crimes against the monarchy and state institutions. To do so, the court has taken as evidence 64 messages posted on social media and a song broadcast on YouTube on 28 January.

 

In a statement published in his Twitter account, Hasel noted that: "I don't know if I'll be taken to jail, not for a long time." I have been charged with crimes for more than twenty years in the final chapter rcel.Al, solidarity has not been enough to curb this issue of freedom of expression. I'll be jailed for telling me objective facts, but I'll never be submitted."

Last December, the Catalan singer and eleven other protesters faced a five-year and three-month petition for "assaulting" the seat of the Spanish government delegation in Lleida in protest against the arrest of former President of Generalitat Carles Puigdemont.

Without freedom of expression

According to the Supreme Court, the tweets and messages that the singer has published during these years cannot be understood within the freedom of expression and opinion n.En, has pointed out that "other constitutional rights and demands" condition, among other issues, "respect for others". In any event, Hasel has stated that he is not demanding or asking for pardon, because he does not repent of everything he has written and said.
