- A month ago, the Tolosaldea Self-Defense Network (TAS) launched at the Orixe Institute of Tolosa a struggle for the evaluation criteria of interest of the students, which aims to modify some criteria related to the methodology of evaluation of the subjects of history and Basque. Throughout this time, however, students have had to suffer threats, penalties and obstacles from the management and faculty, as a consequence of the implementation of this dynamic.
However, all these movements of persecution have not been enough for the students who struggle with determination and conscience to put aside the claim. Beyond that, they have served to reinforce the legitimacy and the need for the claim, evidencing the authoritarian attitude of the management. In this sense, after various dynamics and protest actions, the Tolosaldea Self-Defense Network convened on February 22 in Tolosa the national pooling with the aim of uniting forces and materializing a claim that may be the only solution to the situation.
In this regard, the Ikasle Abertzaleak organization has identified the need to publicly show the Burukides of the organization our support and encouragement. State our commitment to national conciliation and our call for assistance. We therefore see ourselves at the demonstration to be held on 22 February at 12:00 in Tolosa. In addition, with the aim of making this event as multitudinous as possible, we call for the strike of 22 February in Hego Euskal Herria for all schools. The students, along with the rest of the working class sector, intend to create facilities to be in the streets of Tolosa instead of being in the center. Therefore, we encourage students to perform strikes or half-hour arrests in the different educational centers of Hego Euskal Herria.
The Student Organization considers it essential to join efforts to respond to the different aggressions that occur in the educational field and to improve the learning conditions, as this represents the only real guarantee both for the cessation of the aggressions and for the materialization of the demands.
In this capitalist and constant offensive of the Basque working class, only the articulation of the defense of our class will give us the ability to achieve small victories. In this process, the work carried out by the self-defense networks of the different educational centers is truly commendable. On the one hand, the organization of the different areas of the working people of the educational centers, creating capacities for integration and response to concrete problems, and on the other hand, the enhancement of a model of militancy based on solidarity. An example of this is the fight against the cameras that have been launched at the Eunate College in the region of Pamplona or the dynamics of the disabling of the “Alexia” platform in Aiaraldea, among others.
Finally, we want to send all our admiration and strength to all the students who organize themselves in the self-defense networks of the different educational centers, especially to the colleagues of Orixe who work these days between measures and harsh sanctions.
