The health crisis: From custody to fight!
Jalgi Urruña 2020ko maiatzaren 12a

The state of health emergency, which has made it even more urgent for families who have difficulty in carrying out their day-to-day activities. Aware of this, we saw as our moral obligation to provide our help. Apart from political calculations, and moving from words to deeds, we created a network of solidarity with the youth assembly in Urruña. Thus, during these months we have performed more than 40 interventions, making people's lives more bearable. Because the priority is popular care and solidarity. Now, when this health crisis seems to be about to be overcome at the moment, we think it appropriate to give our opinion on what has happened, and we want to highlight two main points.

First of all, this health crisis has once again made it clear that enemies use every opportunity to occupy and dominate Euskal Herria. And for those who have not yet seen this clear in the case of Catalonia, the statute of autonomy suffered by a part of the Basque Country is insignificant:

Euskal Herria has not been able to adopt, regardless of capitalist logic, the health measures that were considered necessary. On this occasion, the Spanish fascist state has not taken into account the autonomist bourgeoisies of the PNV, who are their slaves.

The occupying forces, a symbol of torture, murder and domination, have intensified in our territory and have more vigorously exercised the repression so well used. They have also sent an army like Pamplona/Iruña, with the aim of reducing the hatred that Euskal Herria has towards them, presenting them as heroes. But they got a wonderful answer. Contempt and rejection of the people!

We have kidnapped Basque political prisoners. If the restrictions on freedom they had so far were not sufficient, on the pretext of the crisis, the bans on visits, restrictions on letters, etc. are added.

Our national language, the Basque language, has also suffered its consequences. The information and contents have been produced in Spanish, leaving the Basque again in the background. A clear example of this is ETB1 programming: Pulling out the newspaper library, programs are being issued some time ago, with a noticeable drop in the audience.

On the other hand, the worsening of this health crisis is in the capitalist system, with workers being the ones who will suffer the most. The thirst for the wealth of the bourgeoisie has decreed the maintenance of the economy above the lives of the workers and has made unjustifiable decisions condemning citizens to become infected.

On this road it is significant that the French government has maintained the first round of its elections in the villages. Two days after the closing order of the schools, the elections were organized.

The policy of decades has had serious consequences: by destroying the public service, by reforming itself, by dismissing workers, the response capacities to this crisis have been decreasing as they filled their pockets. And now, those who until recently were beaten in the protests are the ones who have to save the people. They are those who have been hit and who, due to lack of material and no protective measures, must risk their lives. They are the ones who have been beaten, the ones who have to survive away from their families in exchange for a miserable wage.

While ordering to stay at home, they send people to unnecessary jobs to deal with the crisis, while maintaining the enrichment of the bourgeoisie will multiply the spread of the virus.

And their shortcomings have to be paid for by the citizens. Because the blood that spills capitalism is not from the bourgeoisie, but from the citizenship. That is why, in order to stop this bloody disaster, we citizens have had to put patches through solidarity networks, among other things.

But do not be deceived, we are not born to be the savior of capitalism, but to build a Free and Socialist Basque Country!

Keep the liberation struggle with commitment and honesty!
