According to the LAB trade union, the cost of the kitchen supply in the center of Santiago of the University Hospital of Álava has been between 3,500 and 5,000 euros per month. According to the union, this is a monthly expenditure that has been repeated since 2016, which would entail an overrun of some EUR 200,000 in total.

He has therefore lodged a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office of the Basque Country. This specific complaint is that this possible fraud has occurred in kitchenware and in the supply of consumable items. LAB says that applications and payments for a private company have been managed through public funds.

At a press conference, the union added that it has asked the Prosecutor’s Office to “monitor some people involved in this mismanagement”. To this end, Osakidetza replied that the research data “have no verification”.
