The demonstration called by the health unions will start from the Sacred Heart on Sunday 26 June at 11:00. The unions stress that Primary Care is "serious" and recall that many of the cuts made by Health Advisor Gotzone Sagardui are old: summer closures, reduction of hours or reduction of services and centralization.

Mobilizations on June 22 to denounce time reductions in Primary Care

On 22 June, mobilizations will also be held to denounce the time reductions to be implemented in primary care centres: concentrations and closures at 17:00 in the Salburua Health Centre (Vitoria-Gasteiz), in the Amara Prim Health Centre (Donostia) and in the Deusto Health Centre (Bilbao).

In response to the words of the Health Advisor and the Lehendakari

On June 8, Health Advisor Gotzone Sagardui said that in order to be attended citizens will have to move more and more often. In the opinion of the unions, "these statements have highlighted the strategy of the Basque Government: Dismantling of Primary Care and precarization of the other levels of care through privatization, aggression against public services and the business of private insurance osasu. The Counsellor clearly explained that the offices will be closed, that in some cases it will be limited to nursing staff, that the hospital specialization will continue to be deepened or, in other words, that the existing services will be closed to offer them in a single hospital throughout the CAPV, and that the population will have to be moved more and more frequently. The Counsellor says that this is a cultural change, but it is fundamentally about the dissolution of the public health system, the precariousness of the health service offered to citizens and the worsening of the working conditions of workers. The Basque Government says that the cuts are necessary because there is a lack of professionals, but that is the result of its political decisions".

On 17 June, Lehendakari announced in Parliament that the Basque Government will strengthen primary care and increase, renew and consolidate the workforce, but the unions respond: “Urkullu lies. Once again, Osakidetza will close the health centers in summer, reduce the hours of others, will not replace the holidays of many professionals, will further tax the staff who provide their services during this period and will precarize the care provided to citizens.”

In addition, they stress that "this year the situation is even more serious because Osakidetza has proposed a reduction in hours, even in the health centers where an agreement has been reached for the staff to perform the service in full time, without restrictions".

The unions say that "Osakidetza has no will to eliminate at once for all the high rates of temporality. In Osakidetza there are more than 24,600 temporary workers; however, the Basque Government only proposes an OPE of 3,700 seats, which means that the contingency rate will remain at 50%".
