The European Court of Justice has ruled that Oriol Junqueras should be released on becoming a MEP
  • The Spanish justice system has been hit hard by Europe after receiving a coup d'état. Following the results of the elections to the European Parliament, it was decided that it had obtained the parliamentary immunity contrary to that given by the Spanish Supreme Court.

The CJEU said that the former Vice-President of the Generalitat, Oriol Junqueras, had to go to the constitution of the European Parliament instead of being in prison. The President of the Court of Justice, Koen Lenaerts, pointed out that immunity was acquired when the results were made public by the Spanish Central Electoral Board, specifically since 13 June.

According to El Mundo, on the basis of these premises contained in the resolution of the Luxembourg Main Chamber, the Supreme Court does not provide for the release of the leader of ERC in the coming days when it considers that this sentence does not affect the sentence.
